JACKSON, Wyo. — One22 Resource Center has launched a program to support federal employees in the community who have been affected by the federal government shutdown, offering one-time relief payments to cover essentials like gas and groceries.

The Relief for Federal Workers program was announced in a Friday press release and is intended to assist full-time, year-round employees of the federal government who work or reside in Teton County. Eligible individuals can apply for support in the form of a $250 gift card. The application opened on Oct. 10, and will remain open for 10 days after the federal government reopens.

“Our community is fortunate to have outdoor recreation opportunities, travel security and other services that make living here worthwhile and feasible, and we owe our thanks to the civil servants who make this possible,” One22 Executive Director Sharel Lund said in the statement. “During a time of unpredictable hardship and divisive rhetoric, we hope that these simple stipends can ease the strain that federal employees are facing.”

Any federal worker who has been furloughed or is facing paused paychecks can apply online for the one-time payment. For households with multiple people employed by a government entity, each individual is eligible to apply. The simple application requires proof of residency and employment with a federal agency, such as the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, Transportation Security Administration and others.

Those who need it are encouraged to look into further financial and food assistance through other One22 programs. Visit the One22 website to learn more about support options.

If community members know a federal employee who is affected, they are encouraged to pass on information about this resource.
