JACKSON, Wyo. — Celebrate growth, milestones and all things ‘80s at Rock On Society’s (ROS) Rock The Prom.
Join musical guest 86 and DJ Rosie Read for a nostalgic night at The Virg on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 6 to 10 p.m. Raid vintage stores, eBay and your neighbor’s costume box to create the ultimate ‘80s glam (all genres welcome)! Don’t miss this unforgettable evening — all while raising funds for Rock On Society’s mission in honor of founder Julie Guttormson’s 50th birthday.
“I started high school in 1989 and taught step aerobics to cassette tapes,” says Guttormson. “From the music to the big hair, the ’80s have always had my heart. What a joy it is to create a prom that’s so much less stressful than the real thing (and way more entertaining)! Bring a date, or don’t. Wear a costume, or not. Go all-in on the ’80s, or pick another decade. Just come for a good time and support a great cause—because joy is good for the heart, and that’s what ROS is all about.”
“Joy is key to heart health,” says Guttormson. “Creating heart-healthy joy for the community has been my objective since founding Rock On Society. I love bringing people together to have fun and be their authentic selves.”
Guttormson, the creative force behind the legendary Rock The Ride event, which has raised over $350K for local stroke and cardiac care since 2016, is also the owner of VIM Fitness Studio. After experiencing a stroke at 31, Julie was fortunate to recover with the support of health insurance. Recognizing disparities in outcomes, she launched Rock The Ride in 2016 and founded Rock On Society in 2022 to further her mission of a heart-healthy future for all.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, affecting millions each year. Rock The Prom raises funds for Rock On Society’s program development and expansion, supporting initiatives that promote awareness, prevention and patient care across generations and communities. - Heart Strong Future Grant: Supporting local organizations addressing stroke and cardiac issues, plus a Microgrant for financial assistance for stroke or cardiac victims with medical expenses
- Multigenerational Women’s Conference: Empowering daughters, mothers and grandmothers with health and fitness advice for all stages of life
