JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Northern Rockies Conservation Cooperative (NRCC) announced the addition of a new executive director, Ben Williamson, to the Jackson office.
“Ben brings great experience and dynamism to NRCC’s conservation education, research, and practice-based programs,” said board president, Peyton Griffin.
Before joining NRCC, Williamson conducted whitebark pine research in Yellowstone National Park, directed an environmental education center at The Glacier Institute, and worked on reducing predator-livestock conflicts in northwest Montana. Most recently, Williamson finished a project on land use in Mole National Park in northern Ghana, where he facilitated dialogues with local communities and government officials.
Williamson said, “It’s a privilege to join an organization with a rich history in the GYE. This role gives me the chance to engage with a diverse group of researchers and community members. I’m looking forward to continue this success, while working together to shape new ways of thinking and action.”
Williamson grew up in Colorado, received a degree in Ecology with a minor in Wilderness Studies from the University of Montana, and completed a Master’s of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.
“Ben’s expertise will be invaluable for the community conservation initiatives, educational programming, and research projects NRCC carries out with 45-plus Research Associates and Project Partners,” said NRCC cofounder Susan Clark.
The Northern Rockies Conservation Cooperative, founded in 1987, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization headquartered in Jackson, Wyo. The organization envisions a world where humans and wildlife coexist and thrive in healthy ecosystems.
