JACKSON, Wyo. — Miss the big light show last night? There might be another chance to see the aurora!

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center, geomagnetic activity will remain visible in the skies above the northern states due to coronal mass ejections (CME) from the sun.

“Up to G4 (Severe) geomagnetic storms are expected on 12 Nov. due to CME influences,” NOAA’s website states. “G3 (Strong) geomagnetic storms are likely on 13 Nov. and G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storms are likely on 14 Nov. due to CME effects.”

Keep in mind that NOAA’s prediction center uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), so be sure to check the website before venturing out. UTC is 7 hours ahead of Mountain Standard Time.

The National Weather Service is expecting clouds over Jackson tonight, which could factor into visibility. Good luck out there, skywatchers.
