JACKSON, Wyo. — Three local nonprofits and two artists recently received grant money from the Wyoming Arts Council to create art programing for aging seniors.

The Arts Council awarded $150,000 in creative aging project grants to 33 artists and groups across the state. The money is to be put toward developing and offering a total of 60 eight-week arts programs for older adults. A Friday announcement by the state arts organization listed the Jackson recipients of grant money as Dancers’ Workshop, Jackson Hole Writers, Teton Music School and artist Miga Rossetti. Artist Judy Kwong, of Alpine, was also selected as a recipient.

“We are excited to award these grants to Wyoming artists and nonprofits to implement creative aging programs across Wyoming,” Josh Chrysler, of the Wyoming Arts Council, said via press release. “Over the last several years, we have seen the amazing power of these programs to improve quality of life for Wyoming’s older adults, by providing opportunities to learn new artistic skills and to connect with their communities.”

Per the announcement, the programs will provide arts education and social engagement for seniors across Wyoming. A variety of class programs will be offered across the state through the grants, including dance, memoir writing and leatherworking.
