JACKSON, Wyo. — On Thursday, April 24, Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation (Parks and Rec) announced that the Mike Yokel Playground Replacement Project is slated to open in June, bringing the community a more modern and expansive play structure.
According to Teton County, the removal of the existing playground equipment and play surface area will allow for the new, expanded playground to be constructed. Construction crews will be installing a fence barrier to secure the site area.
Tree, stump and wood chip removal is also part of the site’s preparation process, per the press release. Crews will also need to make adjustments to the irrigation and sprinkler lines.
Certain sidewalks and curbing will be removed to accommodate the expanded playground footprint.
Contractors are accessing the site via E. Hall Ave. and the Mike Yokel Park parking lot. The public is strictly prohibited from entering the active work zone and is asked to respect all construction fencing and posted signage.
Parks & Rec said via press release that it appreciate the community’s patience and support as staff and contractors work to bring the new playground to Mike Yokel Park.
