UNITED STATES — The Department of the Interior (DOI) is honoring Presidents Day by waiving entrance fees to Department-managed public lands on Monday, Feb. 16.
As part of a recent change, fee-free days will allow U.S. resident visitors to enter national parks free of charge. DOI bills the series of free access days as “resident-only patriotic fee-free days.” All other fees will remain in effect, such as those for overnight camping where relevant, as well as entrance fees for nonresidents and any nonresident fees where applicable.
In November 2025, DOI announced a slew of changes to national park entrance fees and passes. There will be a total of 10 fee-free days at national parks in 2026. Traditionally, fee-free days are one of the ways DOI attempts to ensure that public lands are accessible to all.
