DRIGGS, Idaho — A mountain lion was seen chasing a deer near Driggs, Idaho, on Sunday, March 17.

The Teton County Idaho Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) told Buckrail that an individual called in the sighting early on Sunday morning, noting that the mountain lion was in the Creekside Meadows area. The individual witnessed the mountain lion attack a deer, and disappear shortly thereafter.

TCSO notified Idaho Fish and Game of the sighting. The agency is encouraging Driggs locals and visitors to be aware of their surroundings, and cautious of wildlife, noting that mountain lions have been known to sneak up on prey. Supervise children and pets when recreating outdoors.
