STAR VALLEY, WYO — Wyoming Highway Patrol reported a highway fatality yesterday in Alpine after a motorcyclist crashed outside of the weigh station near the junction of highways 26 and 89.

According to Wyoming Highway Patrol Lt. Matthew Brackin, a group of 12 motorcycle riders was traveling north on Highway 26/89 headed for Idaho Falls at about 6:30pm Sunday when the pack slowed for a turning motorist.

A person in the middle of the group was late to react and locked up the brakes, sending the bike into a skid. The rider laid the bike down and slid off to the shoulder of the road.

Despite a series of CPR and an air ambulance called in to respond, Melinda Gregston, 45, of Idaho, was pronounced dead at the scene. Gregston was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
