Some 29 area students took part in the Johns Hopkins University Model UN Conference.

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – InterConnections21 (IC21) released an update on its busy year involving Jackson Hole youth. What impressed us the most was the Teton County Model United Nations (TCMUN) program. And the 2018 conference is just around the corner already.

This past winter, IC21 teamed up with the JH High School, JH Community School, and Journeys School to lead 29 students to the Johns Hopkins University Model UN Conference.

The Jackson Hole team represented Wyoming well at a conference with over 1,800 students from around the world and came home with three top awards, including Best Delegate and Most Outstanding Delegate at an upper-level invitation-only specialized committee.

In February, Lindsey Ehinger, IC21 Director, and Aaron Trauner, JHHS Senior and TCMUN 2017 Secretary General, joined the Jackson Hole Center for Global Affairs (JHCGA) on a people to people diplomacy trip to Yanqing, China. The delegation met with Chinese politicians and tourism officials to discuss environmental sustainability, national parks management, and the winter sports industry as Yanqing prepares to host the 2022 Winter Olympics. The team also explored the nearby development resort community of Jackson Hole, China.

The 13th annual TCMUN conference is just around the corner on November 11-13, 2018. This event brings together 200 talented high school students from across Wyoming and Idaho to debate critical world issues and formulate practical solutions.

This year, IC21 is offering corporations and individuals the opportunity to sponsor their favorite country or continent at the three-day conference. Sponsorships include marketing benefits and access to a private reception with keynote speaker, Prof. James Scott, the Herman Brown Chair and Professor of Political Science at Texas Christian University.

IC21 is also looking for volunteers, including adult co-chairs to help lead the students in MUN committee. Please reach out to lindsey@ic21.org for more information.
