JACKSON, Wyo. — A man was injured when his four-wheeler flipped on Shadow Mountain follow by assistance from Teton County Search and Rescue.
Search and Rescue was paged out at 2 p.m. on Sunday to help a man who had been injured in an ATV accident on Shadow Mountain. The man was driving a rental ATV on a guided trip when he hit a terrain feature, causing the machine to flip and land on top of him. Two people nearby helped lift the ATV off of him.
The first team approached via a RZR side-by-side and made contact with the patient after about 90 minutes. They assessed the man’s injuries, packaged him up, and transported him to an ambulance at the bottom of the mountain.
Despite the remote nature of the incident, injuries involved, and COVID precautions, the team was able to complete the mission—from receiving the page to delivering the patient to higher medical care—in about three hours.
Everyone was back at the hangar by 7 p.m. when they debriefed and prepped all the gear for the next rescue.
