JACKSON, Wyo. — The Teton County Library will host a nurse practitioner Tuesday night to present the program “Reframing Prevention: Longevity Medicine & Women’s Health.”
Katy Kearns holds nursing degrees from Texas A&M and Purdue and worked as a critical care and emergency room nurse before joining Grand Health in Wilson as a Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in longevity medicine. Her talk will center on shifting focus from the detection/treatment healthcare model to a preventative approach based on lifestyle medicine and strength-building.
“The topic of longevity creates a lot of buzz these days with a myriad of tips and tricks available online,” Library Adult Program Coordinator Leah Shlachter said in the event announcement. “This talk stresses accessible lifestyle guidelines from a health professional who knows our local community well.”
Kearns will touch on the state of women’s healthcare in the U.S., and she will debunk some medical myths about women’s health. Expect to learn about the importance of building physical resilience, exercising and balancing nutrition.
The free event will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the library’s auditorium.
