JACKSON, Wyo. — Candidate forums continue during this election cycle. Protect Our Water Jackson Hole (POWJH) and the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance (JHCA) are set to host the next free and public forum, with a focus on conservation, on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Teton Science School’s Coyote Canyon Campus.
Starting at 5:30 p.m., there will be a meet and greet with candidates, and the forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. Town Council and County Commission candidates will be present and will receive separate time periods for fielding questions.
Executive Directors Jenny Fitzgerald of JHCA and Phil Powers of POWJH will moderate. Both sessions will include questions from the audience.
“Decisions made by local elected officials have far-reaching implications for Jackson Hole’s natural resources,” Fitzgerald shared in a press release. “From protecting drinking water to balancing development pressures with wildlife habitat conservation, local government plays a critical role in safeguarding the valley’s environmental health.”
Questions will center around conservation, water quality, responsible development and environmental challenges facing Jackson Hole.
Wilson-based Brot Coburn will also speak the forum. He has worked internationally on environmental conservation and sustainable development initiatives, authored or edited nine books and taught at Colorado College.
