JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Library (TCL) is inviting the community to its gallery for the opening reception of “The Creative Lives of Librarians,” a show by artists whose day jobs are also at the library.
The reception will take place Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The 20-plus art pieces will remain on display through the end of February for those who can’t attend the opening.
“We have several enthusiastic artists on staff, whose work ranges from photography to painting to illustration in both ink and thread,” Leah Shlachter, adult program coordinator, said in a TCL press release. “Every few years we like to add a librarian art show into our gallery schedule to reveal our creative sides.”
According to the press release, one corner of the gallery was inspired by a conversation among staff about the recent multimillion dollar sale of “Comedian,” a banana duct-taped to a wall by Italian artist Maruizio Cattelan. A variety of objects in that area follow the duct tape theme, accompanied by tongue-in-cheek titles.
Soft drinks and snacks will be served at the reception. Library programs are free and open to the community.
