JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Library’s (TCL) Foreign Policy discussion series will return on Mondays starting Jan. 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the Ordway Auditorium. The series will run through March 25.

The series will tackle eight critical global issues, from climate technology to the future of NATO.

“Foreign Policy discussions are a great way for our community to engage in civil discourse about topics that affect us though we may be further removed from their impact,” Adult Program Coordinator Leah Shlachter said via press release. “By doing readings in advance of the meetings, participants have a basic understanding of the topics and contribute to the discussions in a more knowledgeable way.”

According to TCL, the 2024 Foreign Policy Discussion Series is presented with Great Decisions, America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. Participants are encouraged to prepare for meetings by reading briefing articles on the topic of the week. Each program begins with a short video for still more information prior to the group discussion.

The series’ weekly schedule will be as follows:

  • Jan. 29: Mideast Realignment
  • Feb. 5: Climate Technology and Competition
  • Feb. 12: Science Across Borders
  • Feb. 19: Library is closed for President’s Day, no discussion
  • Feb. 26: U.S. China Trade Rivalry
  • March 4: NATO’s Future
  • March 11: Understanding Indonesia
  • March 18: High Seas Treaty
  • March 25: Pandemic Preparedness

Copies of individual articles related to the weekly topic are available for pick up before each discussion. The Foreign Policy Association also provides additional information here.

Alta Branch Library will cover the same topics on Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m., starting Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Feel free to join for the entire series or drop in for topics of particular interest. No registration is required. Participation via Zoom is also offered at tclib.org/foreignpolicy.
