MOOSE, Wyo. — It’s the last weekend to take advantage of access to many roads in Grand Teton National Park.
As it does each year, the park has transitioned into the winter season with scheduled road closures going into effect Tuesday, Nov. 1.
The Teton Park Road will close today through April 30 from Taggart Lake Trailhead to Signal Mountain Lodge. The road will be open to biking from Nov. 1 until it is snow-covered. The road will be groomed for skiing, snowshoeing and hiking from mid-December to mid-March.
The southern portion of the Moose-Wilson Road from Granite Canyon Entrance to the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve closed to all access the day after Labor Day, September 6. This section of road will reopen to winter activity in December, through March 2023.
Other roads such as Antelope Flats, Deadmans Bar, Grassy Lake, Pilgrim Creek, Schwabacher, and Two Ocean are closed seasonally based on conditions.
According to the park, roads in GTNP close for the winter for recreational use and to provide corridors for wintering wildlife.
