Snow King base area conceptual plan.
JACKSON HOLE, WYO – A special open house meeting will take place this week giving the public the opportunity to weigh in on proposed expansion at Snow King Mountain Resort.

The Snow King master plan amendment will be discussed in its entirety today, tomorrow, and Thursday as town officials, as well as Snow King leadership, hope to hear what it is the public wants to see on the Town Hill.
Both the town and Forest Service have heard an enormous amount of feedback—mostly through emails—moving into the scoping phase with the Bridger-Teton NF. Tonight, begins a chance to express those feelings in person to Snow King GM Ryan Stanley, COO Jeff Golightly, and town councilmembers.

Some of the more contentious components of Snow King’s amended master plan are the location of the gondola base (Phil Baux Park?), a zipline, summit amenities including a restaurant and observatory, expanded ski terrain to the east and west, potential backcountry skiing in Leeks Canyon, and expanded snowmaking capabilities.
Plans also include a Mountain Sports Training Facility and second sheet of ice adjacent to the existing Snow King Sports and Event Center.
In addition to improvements on the hill, Snow King reps are also one day hoping to take advantage of existing commercial entitlements that include 1,095 additional short-term rental units (as measured by APO – average person occupancy).

The original master plan allowed for a total of 915,000 square foot of total development and 2,208 guests measured by APO for lodging uses. In total, approximately 351,662 square feet has been constructed to date and 1,113 guest APOs.
As the Forest Service currently looks over Snow King’s plans from a lessor’s standpoint, town officials have already expressed their concerns about traffic, parking, and employee housing.
