KHOL welcomes Garth Gillespie as board chair

JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Community Radio (KHOL 89.1 FM) welcomed Garth Gillespie as the new chair of the station’s board of directors.

Gillespie is a realtor in Jackson Hole and has lived in the valley for more than 20 years. He has served on the KHOL board since 2018, during which time he helped facilitate the hiring of KHOL’s senior staff and the expansion of the station’s newsroom.

“The station has seen tremendous growth over the past decade and continuing the momentum is my primary goal,” Gillespie said.

Gillespie is preceded by attorney Erika Nash who served on the KHOL board for nearly a decade.

“I have a deep love for the creativity of radio—and community radio, in particular, is a unique medium,” Nash said. “It is the connection in the community, connecting us to each other through music and interviews.”

Over the past year, KHOL has expanded its newsroom with in-depth local news coverage and added locally and nationally produced podcasts, as well as news coverage in Spanish.

The station has recently established affiliations with the Rocky Mountain Community Radio Network, Public Radio Exchange, and Radio Bilingue. From its infancy in the basement of the Teton Barbershop as a primary music format station, KHOL now has more than 40 volunteers and programs that are listened to around the world.

Additional members of the community have joined the KHOL board in recent months, including architect Jeff Lawrence, nonprofit professional Karyn Greenwood, and Kevin Cohane, owner of Persephone and Picnic. Architect and founder of Vertical Harvest Nona Yehia and photographer David Agnello also serve on the board.
