JACKSON, Wyo. — Indie-rock double bill in Jackson Hole. It’s not a familiar statement. Leave it to Jackson Hole Community Radio, KHOL 89.1 FM, to bring diversity to the scene while raising funds to keep the lights on and continue upping the ante on its programming. Nation of Language and Greet Death will team up to rock Wister Hall at the Virginian Lodge this Friday.

Recently releasing its first LP on the Sub Pop label, Dance Called Memory (2025), synth-pop trio Nation of Language brings a 1980’s melancholic edge over the course of three releases. The trio takes a few cues from the Postal Service, Bloc Party, Kraftwerk and The Smiths. The band is led by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Ian Devaney, his partner in marriage, synth player Aidan Noell, and bassist Alex MacKay. The Brooklyn-based band is synth-forward with idiosyncratic lyrics and electronic beats.

Greet Death brings a gritty alt-rock vibe straight from Flint, Michigan. Living on the edges of post-rock shoegaze/doomglaze, slacker-rock, and slowcore, the quintet brings musical adjectives never before realized in Teton County. Back in the day, the kids called it grunge, but this is different. They’ve noted Neil Young, Jason Molina and Guns n’ Roses as influences, so yeah, we’re all confused enough to hear what it’s all about. Either way, Greet Death brings an interesting sound with daunting lyrics and a decisive rawness made by grade-school friends.

This event support’s KHOL’s programming: “innovative public radio programs, in-depth local news and cultural reporting, and events that touch a passionate community…KHOL has received multiple accolades for its programming, including from RTDNA’s Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, Public Media Journalists Association, the Society of Professional Journalists and LION Publishers.”
