SWEETWATER COUNTY, Wyo. — Police in Sweetwater County are asking the public to be on the lookout for fake $20 bills.

The Rock Springs Police Department is warning business owners and citizens of counterfeit bills circulating in the Rock Springs area.

The bills look extremely real but are slightly different in color. On the bill, the word “COPY” appears, and the banner at the top of the bill that would normally state “FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE” instead reads “FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY” on the front and back.

Several businesses have already reported receiving the bills in various denominations. Cashiers are advised to inspect all bills before accepting them.

Anyone in possession of one of these counterfeit bills is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Brenda Baker at the Rock Springs Police Department at 307-352-1575.
