JACKSON, Wyo. — King Concerts rolls into show 14 of 15, presenting KALEO and Early James this Sunday. From raw to produced soundscapes, it’s a blues-rock affair that will be complementary in its pairing.
KALEO hails from Reykjavík, Iceland with a sound as bold as the all-caps band name, a Hawaiian word that translates to “the sound.” In 2016, the quartet delivered the double-platinum single “Way Down We Go” from the album A/B, blending rock, blues and soul. The track catapulted them to international fame. Their most recent release is early 2025’s “Mixed Emotions,” the band’s first in four years. It’s a ’70s-esque rock album with a slice of massive-sounding pop production, Americana elements, lighter singer-songwriter moments and crunchy, Black Keys-like swagger.
Speaking of The Black Keys, opening the show is their hand-picked label artist, Early James. James last performed in Jackson as part of a duo in February of 2024 at the The Virg. His acoustic guitar was in a soft case and crushed by the airline. We wish him better luck this time around. He’s a fantastic finger-style guitarist with interesting, off-kilter tunes and witty lyrics, equally comfortable plucking an acoustic or plugging in and chicken-pickin’ an electric. He’ll most likely stage a trio with drums and bass.
King Concerts presents KALEO with Early James. Gates open at 5 p.m. with opening acts at 6 p.m. and headliners at 8 p.m. $65 tickets are still available. Confirm show times and additional information at SnowKingMountain.com.
