JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Hole Rotary Lunch Club presented its “Students of the Season” awards this past Tuesday, recognizing outstanding high school students from Jackson Hole High School, Jackson Hole Community School and Summit Innovations High School.

Dr. Scott Crisp, JHHS Principal, introduced Rotary to senior Rowan Reese. Reese is a member of Key Club as well as a lacrosse athlete. He helped grow the now-thriving robotics team at Jackson Hole High School. Rowan participated in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program where he learned German while living in Switzerland and traveling throughout Europe.

Robotics is where Reese found passion and purpose.

“Robotics provides a place for a variety of people, with different skills,” Reese said. He has been instrumental in turning a small team into a regional powerhouse. He is especially proud of helping to establish a robotics team on the Wind River Reservation.

Gillian Chapman, Teton County School District Superintendent, introduced the Rotary Lunch Club to Summit student Nimcy Delgado Ramos. Delgado Ramos founded the student body at Summit and continues to grow and challenge herself to achieve her goals. She cited her parents as a source of strength, saying they have worked hard to provide her a “meaningful life.”

“She is a continuous source of light and channels a level of perseverance and compassion that inspires all of us,” Chapman said.

Jackson  Hole Community School student Nick Dunn was described as “a leader with casual professionalism,” according to Ashley Satterthwaite, Dean of Academic Affairs. Dunn’s volunteer work inspires other students and faculty.

For instance, Dunn uses his skills as a bike mechanic through Cycle Z Club to repair and rehab discarded bikes for low-income kids and adults in our community. He also mentors fellow JHCHS students on how to improve and clean bikes, sharing his skills and passion. Dunn said he relishes spending time outdoors.

Dunn reminded Rotarians and audience members to “look on the bright side,” and to continue making a difference in our community.
