JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Fire/EMS will host events on Monday, Sept. 11, to remember the first responders who died on Sept. 11, 2001.

A morning ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. in Town Square’s George Washington Park, including a moment of silence, a speech by Fire/EMS Chief Stephen Jellie, a presentation by the honor guard, the raising of the flag at half-mast and a four fives bell ceremony.

An afternoon event at Snow King Mountain will run between 4 and 7 p.m., during which the public is invited to meet first responders at the base of the mountain for a Hill Climb. Those interested in climbing can receive a badge with a photo and name of one of the first responders who died that day.

“The public is encouraged to carry that badge as they hike the 2,200 steps to the top of Snow King Mountain to symbolize the heroic, 110 flight of stairs that first responders selflessly climbed on September 11,” Fire/EMS’ press release said. “The Snow King Hill
Climb is not a timed race, but rather, an opportunity to honor those who gave their life so that others may live.”
