JACKSON, Wyo. — The Alzheimer’s Association Wyoming Chapter is hosting its inaugural Western Wyoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Jackson in October.

The event celebrates advances in research, risk reduction, early detection and diagnosis, and care and support for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The walk will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4, in May Park. Registration will begin that morning at 9 a.m. and opening remarks will begin at 10:15 a.m. Participants can also register online.

The event has a fundraising goal of $50,000, and all funds go toward Alzheimer’s Association research, care and support efforts. There is no registration fee for the walk, according to the organization, but participants are asked to make a personal donation as well as commit to fundraising for the cause.

“Your presence and support would mean a great deal — not only to those living with Alzheimer’s and their families, but to the broader effort to create a world without Alzheimer’s disease and all other dementia,” the organization said in a statement.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, over 55 million people worldwide live with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
