JACKSON, Wyo. — A 32-year-old Jackson man has been sentenced to 110 months in prison (plus five years of supervised release) for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, according to a Monday announcement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Wyoming.

Law enforcement began investigating Samuel Pratts in March 2025 for the distribution of controlled substances in Teton and Sublette counties, according to the announcement. Then, on April 18, 2025, a Teton County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on Pratt, “with a dog alerting to the odor of illegal substances in the car.”

“Investigators conducted a subsequent search of the vehicle and located over 350 grams of methamphetamine,” the announcement states.

Pratts waived indictment and pleaded guilty on Dec. 26, 2025. The crime was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Jackson Police Department, the Teton County Sheriff’s Office and the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Paige Hammer prosecuted the case, and U.S. District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl handed down the sentence in Cheyenne on March 4.

It appears this was not Pratts’ first brush with the law.
