JACKSON, Wyo. — Dancers’ Workshop is here to prove movement is more than just physical.

Dancers’ Workshop’s motto, “let us move you,” then, is multi-faceted.

“How can we move you emotionally, spiritually, and physically?” asks DW instructor Francesca Romo.

DW’s motto and mission are built upon four pillars. As a certified Craniosacral , Gyrokinesis and Gyrotonic instructor, Romo focuses on “Wellness” and “Workshops.”

The two are connected. Workshops are shorter, all-levels, more surface-level explorations of different kinds of movement. They allow “specific focus to hone in on things that, perhaps, in a regular class, you might not think about,” Romo says.

The duration of the sessions is shorter. Workshops like Chakra, MELT Restorative Movement, even line dancing, are offered as a condensed series of classes. But the classes themselves are up to two hours long, which allows students to “access places in your brain or body to be curious,” Romo says. “It’s a way to bring yourself to something new, to challenge yourself.”

And each workshop is built to “move you” toward wellness. Wellness is woven into everything Dancers’ Workshop does. As Romo defines it, “wellness” is “the state where a concert of pieces of your body come together, and you’re not having to let intellect get in the way.” It is both mindfulness and maintenance of one’s body and mind, and how they work together.

“Our body’s intelligence is so much more vast than we realize,” Romo says. “We get in the way of ourselves sometimes. Let us move you in a way that is not just physical, but can bring a depth to what you thought you could do.”

And wellness is more important now than ever. Dancers’ Workshop has moved its workshops online for the time being. Wellness classes like Gyrotonic are limited to online or private sessions. But the most important ingredients to movement have always been “an open mind and an enthusiastic and willful disposition,” Romo says. “It should always be about what is motivating you.”

Dancers’ Workshop has two upcoming workshops: On Friday, July 17, explore “Feminine Freedom” with Luke Zender. The class is a chance for people of all genders to “explore the meaning of sexy” and “redefine… what confident, sexy, and powerful movement feels like.”

Then, explore the “Chakra” with Rachel Holmes. “Through tapping into the subtleties of our being we can discover our gifts, trauma, needs, desires, power and the clear insights of our intuition. Using visualizations, movement, journaling and art we explore what is sitting in our energy, what is ready to be examined, released, fostered and nourished.”

Let us move you.
