What are the holidays without "The Nutcracker"? Mariinsky Theatre Ballet Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

Celebrate this holiday season with the Russian Club of Jackson Hole and Dancers’ Workshop in a special screening of “The Nutcracker”. The magic of Tchaikovsky’s score and the movement of the dancing sugar plums will kick off the holiday season in this beloved ballet on the big screen in The Center Theater.

There are tons of different versions of “The Nutcracker”. This one in particular, performed by the Mariinsky Ballet, is a classic version from the very theater that premiered it in 1892 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Remember the story? It’s the story of a young girl named Clara who is gifted a nutcracker doll for Christmas. After her brother breaks it, Clara cares for the wounded nutcracker. The nutcracker later saves her from the evil Mouse King and is then transformed into a heroic prince. Together, the prince and Clara travel to an enchanted island where celebrations, hosted by the Sugar Plum Fairy, are held in their honor.
