DRIGGS, idaho — Fall River Electric Cooperative is conducting its 6th annual “Stuff the Trailer” food drive on behalf of the Teton Valley Food Pantry.
The Cooperative is collecting non-perishable food this Thursday, Dec. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Broulim’s in Driggs and volunteers will deliver all the donations to the food pantry in January. Most needed items are cold cereal, peanut butter, canned fruit, canned meats, pasta and soups.
“Your donation of non-perishable food items will help make this holiday season brighter for those who have a little less,” Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative said in the announcement.
According to Sue Heffron, Executive Director of Teton Valley Food Pantry, the local food bank needs to stock up after the holiday rush. Two weeks ago the pantry started giving out hams and turkeys and according to their calculations 269 households totaling 796 people were served during the week of Dec. 11 to Dec. 15.
“Our community steps up in times of need, especially over the holidays when our neighbors need it most,” Heffron told Buckrail. “We are so grateful for our community coming together to take care of each other. It warms my heart.”
The regular food drop off schedule at Teton Valley Food Pantry is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
