HOBACK, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WDYOT) will close US 189/191 through Hoback Canyon for avalanche mitigation work at 2 p.m.

The closure is expected to last two hours, but the timeframe may vary depending the mitigation efforts. Winter weather road conditions such as reduced visibility and increasing avalanche hazard may also force an earlier closure.

Drivers can expect intermittent closures with up to 15 minute stop delays and must obey roadside flaggers from milepost 156 to 160.

This closure comes after WYDOT issued a “no unnecessary travel” alert for all Teton County maintained roads.
