JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Historical Society & Museum invites kids not only to learn about Jackson Hole’s history, but to experience it. Hands-on activities, recreational games, and field trips combine to make History Museum Camps fun.
The History Museum Camp registration lottery is currently open through Wednesday, Feb. 28 at bit.ly/summerhistorycamp.
JUNIOR CURATOR CAMP
Entering Grades 3-5 | July 8-12
Learn about the History Museum’s collection and how to select artifacts, write text labels, and creatively display the material. Campers will put together their own group exhibition, and the week will end with a mini opening.
HISTORICAL FICTION WRITING CAMP
Entering Grades 3-5 | July 22-26

Campers will explore examples of historical fiction and work with local authors, artists, and bookstores as they research, draft, edit and illustrate their own historical fiction stories. Final stories will be published in an official book to keep.
FOUNDING FEMALES OF JACKSON
Entering Grades 1-2 | July 29-August 2
Learn about Jackson’s all-female Town Council elected in 1920, the other women leaders they appointed, and who made the news and really got things done. Campers will get to know our current local government and experiment with their own public office campaigns.
MAKE YOUR MARK: JH ADVOCACY
Entering Grades 1-5 | August 19-23
Explore the early conservation movement and legacy of community involvement with local examples including the work of Mardy and Olaus Murie, the National Elk Refuge, and Grand Teton National Park. Campers will consider current conservation needs and experiment with tactics like letter writing, poster making, and more.
OLD SCHOOL CRAFTY CAMP
Entering Grades 1-2 | August 26-30
Campers will explore how and why early settlers used traditional crafts in the homesteading era of Jackson Hole as they try their hand at embroidery, leather work, quilting, candle making, and more traditional crafts.
All camps run Monday to Friday with drop-off between 8:30 – 9 a.m., and pick-up from 4:30 – 5 p.m. at the new History Museum Campus at 125 East Broadway Ave. The weekly cost is $350, and scholarships may be available.
