JACKSON, Wyo. — Don’t give up on winter just yet.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for the Jackson Hole and Star Valley areas, in effect from 11 p.m. on Monday until 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The region’s mountain ranges will also be under the advisory for the same time frame.

NWS is calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow at lower elevations and winds gusting up to 40 mph. The period with the heaviest snow is expected to be between 11 p.m. and 9 a.m. NWS is predicting winds to pick up after 11 p.m., potentially gusting 30 mph or more starting around 4 a.m. There is a 40% chance that the town of Jackson will receive more than 4 inches of snow.

Up in the mountains, Teton Pass and Togwotee Pass could see snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches. NWS is calling for 6 to 11 inches of snow at higher elevations, with 55 mph wind gusts. The highest elevations in the Wind River Range could get up to 20 inches of snow.

The combination of falling snow and gusty winds could lead to difficult travel conditions and slippery roads during the Monday morning commute, per NWS. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution.
