JACKSON, Wyo. — Break out the bubbly. Deplaning visitors at the Jackson Hole Airport are once again being treated to a warm greeting, those stunning mountains, and a complimentary mimosa or orange juice.
Entering its 42nd season, the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce, along with the Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board, Jackson Hole Airport, and Jedidiah’s Catering, will roll out the red carpet in welcoming air travelers to the valley via the Winter Airport Greeting Program.
The program is a traditional western howdy to arriving visitors after a long day of travel with the characteristic warmth and friendliness of Jackson Hole. The 2020 Greeting Program is already in full swing, engaging with over 10,000 people so far this year. The program staff happily serve information and resources alongside the trademark orange juice and mimosas.
“With the highest standards for safety, hospitality and customer service, it is such a pleasure to partner with the Airport, TTB, and Jedidiah’s to host visitors from all over the world with the Winter Airport Greeting Program,” said Rick Howe, Chamber of Commerce Vice President. “Last winter, we greeted and engaged with over 84,000 people and this year we have added an extra day to serve five days weekly, reaching even more visitors.”
The program is uniquely poised as the first impression of Jackson Hole for many visitors. The airport, in particular, does not take that lightly. They use the greeting program to also showcase Jackson Hole’s commitment to the environment by including composting, recycling, and sustainability efforts upfront and center. All materials used during this program are recycled and composted. Cups, cardboard, and printed materials not used or discarded are placed into the airport’s onsite composting station.
Jim Elwood, Executive Director of the Airport, said, “Warm greetings coupled with best environmental practices serve a strong message to the arriving passengers as to what our community values are in Jackson. This incredible place is respected and cared for by those who live here, and we want our visitors to experience its majesty while also knowing how to care for it during their stay. The airport is the perfect place to set the stage for visitors on our western hospitality and deeply rooted care for our environment.”
The Jackson Hole Airport Greeting Program is a winter program designed to increase the efficiency of providing information and resources to travelers, all the while adding an authentic dose of western hospitality.
