JACKSON, Wyo. — Noticed smoke in the valley today?
An air quality alert is in effect until midnight, covering the entire state of Wyoming, according to the National Weather Service.
“Smoke from Western Canadian wildfires continues to be observed across western and central Wyoming,” the alert reads. “The smoke is limiting visibilities at times.”
Also at play in western Wyoming are the Dollar Lake Fire and the Willow Creek Fire.
“The Wyoming Department of Health recommends that the elderly, young children, and individuals with respiratory problems avoid excessive physical exertion and minimize outdoor activities during this time,” the alert reads, with the added caveat that “everyone should avoid prolonged exposure to poor air quality conditions.”

According to AirNow.Gov, air quality in Jackson at 2:15 p.m. was considered moderate, decreasing in quality to the southeast (closer to the Dollar Lake and Willow Creek blazes). See these tips for dealing with wildfire smoke.
