JACKSON, Wyo. — Being a Nashville country music star looks different for Margo Price than most. Free of rules while cherishing tradition, the self-proclaimed stubborn artist and cannabis enthusiast makes records the old-fashioned way — real musicians being captured by real machines. She has a furious instinct to never waver, bringing the Wild at Heart Tour this Saturday at the Center Theater with her full band.

With her new release, Hard Headed Woman, Price returns to truth-telling country-folk after developing her vintage country-rock-Americana sound over the course of several records. Numerous collaborations with other top Americana outlaws like Sturgill Simpson, Jesse Wells, Tyler Childers and Willie Nelson showcase her outlaw allegiances with “real” singer-songwriter country, far from the throes of bro-country and pop artists-gone-country.

Since her 2016 debut Midwest Farmer’s Daughter, Price has aligned with ’70s female artists like Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette and Emmylou Harris, though arguably more unpredictable and eclectic. The Illinois native and college dropout became a force in the industry through a slow burn of a career, working odd jobs to eke out a living, including performing with bands Pricetags and Buffalo Clover, alongside her husband, Jeremy Ivey.

Price’s bandmate, Logan Ledger, will open the show. In 2023, he supported Vincent Neil Emerson as an opening act at the Mangy Moose. Ledger’s sound is rooted in honkytonk, psychedelic rock, surf rock, Western swing, and baroque ’60s pop with a smooth, near-operatic voice frequently compared to legendary performers like Roy Orbison, Willie Nelson and Glen Campbell.

The Center Presents Margo Price with guest Logan Ledger at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Center Theater. Tickets are $78-$214. JHCenterForTheArts.org.
