Buckrail has rounded up the most petrifying parties of the weekend, so call some friends and make a plan. Then find a wig or go all out and enter one of the many costume contests around town. Say “RIP” to FOMO and get out to enjoy drink specials, live music and vampire vibes.
Be responsible: don’t drink and drive. Partygoers are encouraged to use START Bus, START On Demand, Uber, walk or choose a designated driver before imbibing.
Thursday, Oct. 30
Jackson Hole Children’s Museum
The Children’s Museum will host a Halloween pop-up event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Lodge Conference Center (920 W. Broadway). It is free to enter and will include pumpkin activities and free play in exhibits. There will be candy and “lots of fun” according to a social media post. Costumes are encouraged.
Friday, Oct. 31
Trick-or-treat on Town Square
A Halloween tradition continues with the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce’s annual community event full of costumes, candy, music and fun for the whole family. Trick-or-treating will run from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Downtown businesses will welcome trick-or-treaters, while organizations from outside the downtown core will join in with “trunk-or-treating” on Center Street, sporting decorated vehicles and themed displays. A pet costume contest will take place at 4:30 p.m. with the kids and family costume contests starting immediately after. Learn more here.
Halloween Costume Crawl
The Silver Dollar Bar and the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar are teaming up to offer a pair of parties that shouldn’t be missed. The event will feature two bars, two bands, two costume contests and plenty of spooky celebration from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Sister Karee and the Other Brothers will headline at the Silver Dollar, and 86 will rock the stage at the Cowboy. Participants can look forward to drink specials, swag giveaways and costume contest prizes. Wristbands for $10 can be purchased at the door and will allow admission to both bars. This event is 21 and over.
Eleanor’s
A live-music Halloween bash will take place at Eleanor’s starting at 9 p.m. The event is free and open to individuals 21 and over. According to Eleanor’s, it might get loud. Opening band, Church Bats, will play ahead of indie-punk band Box Elder. A member of Box Elder told Buckrail that the band will open its set with a handful of Black Sabbath songs, before moving on to originals. Drink specials will be available at the bar during the music.
The Dojo
Happy hour will be extended at The Dojo’s Halloween party on Town Square. The Dojo confirmed to Buckrail that this free event will take place on Friday, from 8 p.m. to midnight, with a DJ and a costume contest. Get $2 off draft beers and other cocktail discounts, as well as late-night food specials. Costume contest winners will be announced at 11 p.m.
Stagecoach Bar
For any Wilsonites who don’t want to make the trek to town, Stagecoach Bar will host two DJs from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. DJ Scutty and DJ Randallo will spin funky and groovy tunes to keep the dance vibes going all night. This free event is open to those 21 and over.
The Elks Lodge – sold out
The Jackson Hole Elks Lodge is throwing down from 7 to 11 p.m. with music from Screamo Ranchero, Outta Shorts and VaMoose. This ticketed event will include a judged costume contest and drink specials. Proceeds will benefit Hole Food Rescue.
Glorietta Trattoria – sold out
This ticketed Halloween party will host DJ Chuck Samples and DJ Crayon spinning tunes from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Costumes are encouraged. Must be 21 or older to enter.
Saturday, Nov. 1
Halloween Ball
Hand Fire Pizza will be hosting Riot Act’s annual Halloween Ball from 6 to 10 p.m. Celebrate Riot Act’s 23rd anniversary in scary style with pizza, a DJ, dancing, games, a silent auction and a costume contest. The theme is “classic horror films,” so plan costumes accordingly. Tickets will cost $75 per person through Friday, and will increase to $100 on the day of the party.
