JACKSON, WY— Wondering where your costume will get the most attention this Halloween?

If you can’t wait to don a costume and get a little scared, you’re not alone. There are plenty of Halloween celebrations in and around Jackson this week, and each of them is sure to satisfy your candy craving. (OK they might not have candy, but they will likely serve alcohol, which is the adult version.)

Here’s a semi-comprehensive list of spooktacular Halloween celebrations around town this week.

Halloweekend:

How many times have you heard Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and pretended to know the moves? There’s no better time to actually learn the dance than Halloween, and no better way than Dancers’ Workshop’s Thriller Workshop and Zombie Crawl. DW instructor Kate Kosharek will lead a Thriller workshop Friday, October 27 from at 7 p.m. Then you can take your move to the streets! Costumes encouraged. Dress up to get down.

If you aren’t already vegetable-averse, Vertical Harvest is hosting a Haunted Greenhouse this Saturday, October 28. There are two levels of scary: a haunted house for family and kids will run from 3-5 p.m. Teens and adults can walk the haunted greenhouse from 7-10 p.m. … if they dare. $10 suggested donation.

Jackson Hole Playhouse is in full Halloween swing. From now until November 4, spend Halloweek with the Adams Family for their Haunted Halloween dinner and show. The Playhouse is also hosting Witches tea time for all young witches and warlocks, every day at 4 p.m. through Halloween.

Dubbed “THE Halloween event in Jackson,” HalloWine at Moe’s Original BBQ is sure to be a party. Featuring DJ’s and MC’s from KHOL 89.1 FM, HalloWine will feature signature wine tasting and silent auction items for everyone. AND there’s a costume contest! (Still wondering where to show off your costume? Start here.) Costume contest prizes will be awarded for: Best in Show, Scariest, Best Couple, Best Group, and Best Creative Theme. Friday, October 26. $20 at the door gets you all you can drink wine, free food and access to a bomb silent auction!

The Pink Garter is throwing down some ghoulish beats Saturday night. Prepare for a night of back-to-back DJ madness, featuring local duo Head-to-Head, Mr. Whipple, Dopplewolfganer, GRND CNYN, and legendary DJ and producer Mark Farina. Show starts at 8:30. $25.

Halloween day/night

Start your Halloween proper with a good old-fashioned murder mystery. Local playwright Anne Marie Wells will debut her newest show, “Miss Snicklefritz’s Murder Mystery: Ghouls, Duels, & Deals” in two acts. It’s a campy comedy complemented by Jackson Hole Still Works liquor and hors-d’oeuvres. Tickets sold at the door starting at 7 p.m., the show will start promptly at 8. $20 gets you a Murder Myster-themed cocktail, hors-d’oeuvres, and a performance like you’ve never seen before. (The play contains strong language and sexual references. Probably not suitable for kids who are not allowed to watch R-rated movies.)

If country rock is your Halloween jam, don’t miss the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar’s Halloween Party with The Walker Williams Band. And because you’re never too old to enjoy halloween treats, Fireball is donating tons of free swag and giveaways to fill your [adult] candy bag with. Come dressed in your scariest and best. The Cowboy will have costume contests with prizes for the lucky winners. No cover all night and as always, must be 21+ to enter. Music starts at 9 p.m.

Finally, head back to the Pink Garter Theater for the “Wolfy Horror Picture Show. All you’re allowed to know is you have to see it to believe it. It’s going to be just WEIRD. It’s also free! Starts at 10:30 p.m.
