GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK — On Monday, Aug. 19, Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) opened a public facility that allows for horse riding to be more accessible near the Poker Flats Equestrian Trailhead north of the Granite Entrance Station.
According to GTNP, the new Poker Flats facility features six 50’ x 13’ parking stalls that accommodate truck and horse trailer combinations with ample room for loading near trailside hitching posts. One stall also provides a trailside accessible horse mounting platform — specifically designed to assist with on and off transfers and to increase accessibility to equestrian trails.
The exact coordinates for the facility is latitude 43°35’56.06″N and longitude 110°47’58.60″W.
The new facility is part of the Moose-Wilson Road construction project, which is a multi-year plan to improve parking, hiking, driving and walking accessibility and opportunities for wildlife viewing along the Moose-Wilson Road.
