WYOMING – Cody Enterprise is reporting someone shot and killed a grizzly bear in self-defense on Tuesday, May 23.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is investigating the incident, which occurred on Sheep Mountain.
According to the department, a person on the mountain southwest of Cody had a surprise encounter with a mother grizzly bear that morning and claimed to have shot the bear in self-defense. Officials were able to locate the dead sow but could not find the cubs.
