JACKSON, Wyo. — The Granite Falls area of Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) is set to get a facelift starting Monday, July 15.

The construction project at the the Falls, which is expected to last about a month, is multi-pronged and aims to “restore the surrounding natural environment,” according to a BTNF statement.

The update to the site has been a long time coming, with proposals beginning in the mid-1990s. Finally, in 2022, after environmental analysis and public comment, District Ranger Todd Stiles approved the current plan.

Improvements to Granite Falls will include repairing damage to the user-created parking area, designing the area for day-use only, making a separate area for trailers, restoring trails that have eroded, creating a bypass trail to separate horses and hot springs visitors and adding interpretive signs.

Visitors can expect temporary closures in the area throughout the duration of the project said Ranger Stiles via the BNTF press release.
