JACKSON, Wyo. — It might be time for the vernal equinox, but another sign of spring arrives in small boxes.
That’s right, it’s Girl Scout cookie time. The Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming have announced the impending arrival of cookie booths, which will begin to pop up in front of grocery stores and other public areas on Friday, March 22. A representative from the Jackson chapter of the Girl Scouts noted that its cookies will likely be available after spring break. To locate the nearest cookie booth, use the scouts’ locator.
Cookies will be sold through Sunday, April 14. When purchasing a box of cookies, customers will have the option to donate a box to “local hometown heroes, food banks, service organizations and much more,” according to the Girl Scouts’ announcement.
Those who don’t live close to any of the cookie booths can order cookies online.
“When you support Girl Scouts, you help girls flex their entrepreneurial muscles and acquire important life skills like goal setting, decision making, money managements, people skills and business ethics,” the Girl Scouts’ announcement said. “Girl Scout troops set goals for how to spend their proceeds on program-related activities including travel, camp, as well as investing back into their community through service projects.”
Depending on where in the U.S. a customer is located, they might encounter slight variations in the recipe and/or presentation of certain cookie varieties. Thin Mints famously vary in crunchiness and minty flavor depending on which bakery makes them. Many Mountain West residents will typically see cookies from Little Brownie Bakers, based out of Louisville, Kentucky, which manufactures cookies called Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Trefoils and more chocolatey Thin Mints. Other parts of the country get cookies from a different bakery partner, ABC Bakers of Richmond, Virginia, which calls those same cookies Carmel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwiches and Shortbreads, respectively. The Jackson unit now works with ABC Bakers.
