JACKSON, Wyo. — Outdoor summer markets are on the way!

Jackson Hole and the surrounding areas might have a short growing season, but residents know how to make the best of it. Prepare the pantry for early season staples like leafy greens and root vegetables. And get ready to support local artisans, chefs, ranchers, gardeners and more.

Next Wednesday, the People’s Market will kick off the season on the lawn at Center for the Arts. The weekly market features more than 30 vendors selling locally grown produce, ranch-raised meat, prepared food and snacks, hand-crafted items, dairy and baked goods. The first market of the summer will feature local musician Noel Trask, according to a social media post by Slow Food in the Tetons.
Center for the Arts Lawn: Wednesdays, 4 to 7 p.m., June 3 to Sept. 23

The Jackson Hole Farmers Market will open for its 27th season toward the end of June with live music, produce, baked goods and more. According to the market’s website, the event features only food and beverage vendors. “We love animals more than anything, but please leave your furry friends at home,” reads the website. Every Saturday, vendors donate 1% of their sales to a featured area nonprofit.
Jackson Town Square: Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon, June 20 to Sept. 26
Teton Village Commons: Thursdays, 4 to 7 p.m., July 2 to Aug. 20

Slow Food in the Tetons also runs its weekly summer Farm Stand, selling a wide variety of seasonal produce grown both locally and in surrounding states. The farm stand will be in the same location on Thursdays and Fridays throughout the season. Getting there early can guarantee a good selection, but staff does a great job keeping everything stocked for the duration of the market.
Next to Snake River Brewing: Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 6 p.m., June 25 to Sept. 25

In Idaho, the Teton Valley Farmers Market serves both Driggs and Victor. The market’s mission is to “provide a venue for local farmers, food producers, artisans, and nonprofit organizations to connect with the public in order to enhance the health, economy, and vibrancy of the community through commerce and education.” Many vendors at the Teton Valley Farmers Market accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds, and can offer additional assistance through the Idaho Farmers Market Association.
