MORAN, Wyo. — The time has come to celebrate trails and recreation with Jackson Hole Nordic Alliance’s annual free day to test out winter equipment at Turpin Meadow Ranch.
According to JH Nordic, all trails at Turpin Meadows are open and “it is really winter there!” Attendees can explore the groomed winter trails at Turpin Meadows with free rentals of classic and skate skis, fat bikes and snowshoes. For those who prefer a more structured approach, the event will also offer beginner and intermediate clinics, tours and activities like snowshoe yoga. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11.
“Come connect with many of the organizations, businesses, agencies and enthusiasts who work in and for winter trail recreation,” reads the JH Nordic Alliance’s event announcement. “Bring your friends and family for a great day of winter play and community connection.”
Carpooling is encouraged, as parking is limited, and two free shuttles will leave from the Home Ranch parking lot at 9 a.m. for those who sign up ahead of time. One shuttle will return to Jackson at 2 p.m., and the other will depart at 2:30 p.m. Riders on the shuttle are welcome to bring skis, but fat bikes and dogs should remain at home.
All guests must sign a waiver to participate. Organizers recommend the waiver be filled out online before 9 a.m. on Sunday, but there will be an opportunity to fill one out in person. The main lodge at Turpin will be open with lunch and beverages for purchase. Raffle prizes have been donated by local businesses, and tickets will be sold online before the event, as well as at Turpin the day of.
