JACKSON, Wyo. — During Mental Health Awareness Month, the Community Prevention Coalition of Teton County is offering free suicide awareness training to empower the community to make a difference in suicide prevention.
At this half-day workshop, participants will learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, engaging someone and connecting them to an intervention resource for further support.
Studies show that participants gain confidence in asking people about suicide directly, connecting them to life-saving resources and keeping an individual safe until those resources take over.
The event will take place at Astoria Park Conservancy on May 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants get to enjoy complimentary hot springs soaks from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
To register for this free event, email beverly.shore@wyo.gov or call 307-732-8495.
If you or someone you know is struggling right now, you can always call 988 or text TALK to 741741; both are confidential and available 24/7 every day of the year.
