JACKSON HOLE, WYO– A temporary closure of Flat Creek Road will detour at least one popular hiking trailhead for the remainder of the month.

The Bridger-Teton National Forest has closed a portion of Flat Creek Road (FS 30442) beginning approximately 1 mile east of the forest boundary and extending to Flat Creek Ranch. The closure is necessary to allow for work that will help to remove hazards for wildland firefighters and first responders. The road will remain closed until August 31, or until work is completed.

The closure will likely mean a change of plans for many hikers looking to head up to Sleeping Indian (Sheep Mountain), and for gunners looking to do a little target shooting along the road. (By the way, pick up your brass, please. This area has become littered with debris lately).
