CHEYENNE, Wyo. — In accordance with the presidential proclamation, Governor Mark Gordon has ordered both the U.S. and State of Wyoming flags be flown at half-staff statewide in honor of former Senator Harry Reid.

The day of interment is scheduled for tomorrow, Jan. 13, 2022, therefore, the flag will be lowered to half-staff beginning at midnight tonight and return to full staff at sunset on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022.

The former U.S. Senator from Nevada died from pancreatic cancer on Dec. 28, 2021. He served as Nevada’s senator until 2017 and is remembered as a Democratic powerhouse. He was the Senate Majority Leader for eight years.

Gordon’s order is in accordance with the presidential proclamation, issued today. Flags are to be flown half-staff, effective immediately, until the day of Reid’s internment.
