WILSON, Wyo. — Hooray!
Fish Creek Bridge is back in business, as of 11:08 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) made the announcement via Facebook. The project’s scheduled completion date was Nov. 15.
“Good news, Teton County!” the post reads. “The Fish Creek Bridge is now open to traffic! WYDOT asks that drivers still be aware of crews and equipment working on the shoulders. Stay alert and drive safe!”
Thus ends the need for the detour through residential Wilson, which had been in place since last Wednesday. Signs and barriers marking the detour have been removed.
“We really want to thank the residents of Wilson, the school district, and commuters who come through the area for their patience while we did this work,” WYDOT Resident Engineer Bob Hammond said in a statement. “And also, to our crews and contractors for getting the work done so quickly.”
WYDOT shared in a press release that it is currently devising plans to replace the structure fully, “as soon as the design work and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process are completed, which should be in two to three years.”
