JACKSON, Wyo. — Ever taken a tumble on an icy sidewalk?

Jackson Hole Fire/EMS is asking locals to channel a certain flightless bird’s style of movement to prevent falling on slippery surfaces.

“We respond to falls (on ice, on stairs, off horses, off bikes, off cliffs…) more than any other type of medical emergency,” Jackson Hole Fire/EMS wrote on Facebook. “With slippery conditions outside, we ask you to Waddle on! See tips below!”

May be an image of arctic and text that says 'STOP WINTER FALLS DO THE PENGUIN WALK! WHEN!T GETS ICY AND COLD: Keep your knees relaxed, Point your toes out. Take short steps, Walk slowly, Always keep your hands free and outside of your pockets. WADDLE ON!'

Fire/EMS advocates for the “penguin walk” when it gets icy and cold. To walk like a penguin, keep the knees relaxed, point the toes out, take short steps, walk slowly and keep the hands free and outside of pockets.

Icy conditions are all over the place as snow falls, melts and refreezes along with changes in temperature. Stay safe out there, penguins.
