JACKSON, Wyo. — Tonight, the Fairgrounds ice rink will be open for the season’s first broomball game through Teton County/ Jackson Parks & Recreation Department.

Although broomball will take place tonight, the ice is not ready for skates just yet.

“Hopefully tomorrow morning we can get a few more coats down and be ready for skating,” said Parks & Rec.

In the last week, park crews have been hard at work building ice at the Fairgrounds, Powderhorn and Owen Bircher rinks.

“Owen Bircher will likely be another week or so. [It] needs to be packed and slushed before ice can be made.”

The Teton County/ Jackson Parks and Recreation Department maintains four outdoor ice rinks during the winter season generally from early December through February. The rinks are available for public use, and there is no cost to utilize the ice.

Updates, hours of operations, and reservation information including a calendar of reservations and open skate times can be found online.
