JACKSON, Wyo. — The cold temps have proven helpful for Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation’s ice-making endeavors.

On Friday, Parks & Rec announced that the Teton County Fairgrounds ice rink will open for skating on Saturday. Lights at the ice rink will remain on until 9 p.m. daily. More information, including the ice rink activities calendar, can be found on the Teton County website.

This season, a second ice surface will be added to the Fairgrounds location due to the convenience of public access and parking. The ice rink to the west will be used for broomball and hockey, while the rink on the east side will be for open skating. With this expansion, Parks & Rec will not build an ice rink at Powderhorn Park. According to the announcement, this will allow staff to open the Powderhorn ball field earlier in the spring.

The ice rink at Owen Bircher Park needs more preparation before it’s ready for skating, but staff is still on pace to open it next week. Keep track of Parks & Rec’s winter operations here.
