A message from Champions for Children, a collaborative effort between Children’s Learning Center, Jackson Hole Children’s Museum, and Teton Literacy Center held a symposium celebrating the crucial work of early childhood educators across Teton County.

JACKSON, Wyo. — It’s the magic of coming together, uniting under one incredible cause as a community… Champions for Children’s second annual gathering “EMpowerED: Celebrating the Power of Early Childhood Educators” was an exciting success, opening the doors to new conversations and possibilities in Wyoming’s early childhood education.

This year’s celebration was particularly compelling, with over 25 different teachers nominated from 12 different schools in Teton County. Over 65 people were in attendance at the event, made possible by our generous award and event sponsors Jedediah’s, Bank of Jackson Hole, Katie Murphy State Farm, the Liquor Store, and Noa & Ted Staryk.

The grand prize winner of our 2024 “Childhood Champion” Award was Paige Fisher, a long time educator from Mountain Academy Preschool who empowers children to grow into their own best selves through place-based learning. “[Paige] has built a fantastic community around the school and around supporting the students to thrive in the classroom – and at home” describes one Mountain Academy parent, with another parent raving that “she’s always present, positive and is seemingly always pushing the program forward.”

Our two secondary “Elite Educator” Awards went to Diane McGee of Tiny Explorers Preschool, and Charlotte Souter of the Teton County School District Grizzlies program. These three awards honor educators who have demonstrated outstanding dedication, creativity, and leadership in their classrooms and communities.

“‘EMpowerED’ is not just a celebration; it’s a testament to the powerful impact early childhood educators have on our community,” said Nicole Philbin, Executive Director of the Children’s Learning Center. “We are so excited about this year’s turnout; it truly feels we are creating awareness and energy for the importance of supporting our teachers as they help to mold strong and capable community members of tomorrow.”

This crucial fundraiser will enter its third year in 2025, guiding and spurring the discourse on early childhood education in Teton County. Learn more at championsforchildrenjh.com.
